Small-Group Day Tour from Frankfurt

About this experience

Two Frankfurt tours on this site leave from the same square. This is the small one. The listing caps the group at seven and names a van, so you are not in a coach. The schedule in the listing is unusually precise: about 75 minutes on the road, about 105 minutes at the castle with a local guide, about 105 minutes of free time in the Old Town, about 75 minutes back. Those blocks add up to a little more than the listed five and a half hours, so treat the free time as the part that flexes. The castle visit covers the courtyard, the ruins, the large terrace and the Great Tun, with entry to the castle and the Tun included.

The listing offers hotel pickup by email arrangement, which the larger ETS tour does not; the default meeting point is the bus stop in front of the Hotel Le Meridien at Wiesenhüttenplatz 38, a short walk from the Hauptbahnhof. The guide is listed in German and English. Not suitable for wheelchair users, and no smoking in the vehicle.

What it does not include: the castle's interior tour, a supplement sold at the castle, and the funicular is not named, so expect to be driven to the hill while the Graimbergweg works send vehicles round by Neue Schlossstrasse, likely until the end of 2026. Guests in late summer wrote about a guide called Gunter and about being given time for photographs, which is what a van for seven buys you. The free time is long enough for the Old Bridge, the Church of the Holy Spirit and lunch.

Tips before you book

  • Email the operator with your hotel address straight after booking if you want pickup. The listing says pickup is by email arrangement, not automatic.
  • Use the free time for the Old Bridge and lunch, not for the castle's interior tour: the English tours start at a quarter past the hour and you will be down in the town by then.
  • Seven seats means seven. If you are a party of eight, book two dates or ask the operator through the booking page.
  • No smoking in the van, and the drive is about 75 minutes each way. Plan accordingly.
  • Comfortable shoes for the cobbles and the cellar stairs, and a layer for the terrace.
